Should the ad have been pulled?
Hell yeah it should have been pulled!!
Absolutely not! Gay life has become part of normal society and there is nothing wrong with children viewing it on television.
And......in the meantime very young boys in schools get penalized for showing affection to another little girls.
You idiot.
Of course not. Its just that people who like or don't mind the ad are not going to contact Heinz with thier comments- only the few that don't like it. Heinz made a bad move here.
What's wrong with two guys kissing? In Italy and other cultures men kiss all of the time - the US is so backwards. If you don't want to watch the ad then don't.
Italians/Europeans kisses each other in the cheek but not having a French in their public life.
the US is so backwards. If you don't want to watch the ad then don't.
Then.....what's next?
Hopefully a slew of gay ads for us to watch and enjoy!
NO way. It's ridiculous. To Bill O'Reilly's comment I say, are you disgusted when they show heterosexual kisses in a commercial selling condiments? I bet he isn't, I'm certain his problem is because it is two guys. Big deal. It is ridiculously homophobic for people to get that upset by it and it is frustrating that in the 21st century gay people still have to deal with people who act like neanderthals.
In Britain there are ads with topless women and other ads are highly sexually suggestive and those ads are allowed to stay. An ad where two people kiss is pulled. The difference? The other ads suggest straight sex, the Heinz ad did not so it is pulled. I thought England was more tolerant than that and that the US was the last bastion of bigotry and intolerance.
Hell No! I'm sick and tired of having people complain that it offends them... it's not suitable for children... ya know what? GET OVER YOURSELVES! You're a homophobe and it's not any one's problem to explain to the "children" about gay couples. That's your problem. And that's all it'll be to you people is a problem, because you don't want to "deal" with gay couples who have displays of affection. If you want to ban it from happening with gays, then I expect it to be banned from Heterosexuals as well. You hetero's are leading the charge in divorce rates sky rocketing, and your children becoming ignorant, because you want to keep them in a bubble. It's the new millennium people, time to call your Proctologist and find out if they can find your brains.
Homosexuality is immoral and Biblically wrong. See the book of Romans. If someone wants to be homosexual, that is between them and their god, but I do not want it thrown in my or my families face because some of us still have faith based principles that we still live by and a standard that we strive to hold ourselves accountable to. Just sell the blasted ketchup! Why does it even need to be thrown in there? Just because I don't believe as you do, doesn't make me a "homophobe". We have different beliefs. Don't throw labels on people just because they don't believe as you do. I don't have to "deal" with gay people as you say-I will pray for them. Why is it that if people believe as you do, then they are open-minded and you bash Christians consistently and talk about how close minded we are (because we believe what the Bible says), yet you are totally intolerant to our beliefs-does that not make you close-minded? The Christian religion is not the only religion that believes homosexuality is immoral-Muslims also do-it is punishable by death.
Today is a French on TV, tomorrow will be a public copulation.
Keep it private, please.
FreedomRocks & determined0a1:
First of all, your stupid book of Romans....there were plenty of gay Romans back in the day! Muslims are idiots murdering people who are different that what they consider their 'norm'. Christians are just a bunch of phonies pretending to be a good christian person on Sundays and then being bigoted idiots the other 6 days of the week. You people are just so ignorant. Get over yourselves and your stupid hate filled, war causing religions, and just love your fellow man regardless of differences.
We need to stop this immoral type of media from ever making it to the airwaves. If Gays want to advertise then have it aired on predominantly Gay network channels. This should never be shown on mainstream networks. These are family based and no STRAIGHT family wants to see two people of the opposite sex doing anything more than talking, and even that is strange. Keep gays off the airwaves and in their own bedrooms. Noone wants to see any Gay activities whatsoever. Stay in the closet where you all belong. What this country needs is another round of Shepardizing. Flamboyant gays should be put intop gulags.
Yes, Heinz should have pulled the commercial. I don't like having things like gays, interracial couples, etc. being shoved down my throat. If I wanted to see this kind of activity, I'd just drive through the seedy parts of town. Think I'll switch to Hellmann's. Their mayo is better anyway.
You bigot. Here's hoping your 'Hellmann's' is tainted.
The ad should not have been pulled. What if it were an opposite-sex couple? It would only be inappropriate for children if the two individuals kissing were locking lips, swapping tongues and crawling all over each other - regardless if they were same or opposite sex couples. My question - why should an ad for mayo have anyone kissing?
Well, the subliminal was to taste the mayo. Yak
You are distasteful. Grow up.
NO MORE HEINZ FOR ME. THE PIC MADE ME VOMIT! YUK!!!!
Typical knee-jerk reaction. The gay "activists" should have applauded the fact that Heinz was willing to give it a go -- even it they buckled under consumer (profit) pressure. Companies, as evil as it may seem, have to make a profit or they go out of business.
If they want to boycott anyone, they should boycott every company that NEVER ran a gay-friendly ad.
They're shooting themselves in the foot! Heinz was trying to be an open-minded friend -- so they attacked them when their ad campaign didn't fly.
"Thanks for trying" would be a more appropriate posture.
neanderthals didn't practice homosexuality, so homosexuality is not a natural thing but something that has evolved from a hatred of religion, not genetics. the real haters are not the neanderthals, but the people who hate God and don't realize that God doesn't hate them but instead their behavior and he wants to save people from their behavior. Evolution is the root of all evil, in the beginning everything was perfect in the garden of Eden, and ever since then humankind has evolved into a hateful evil being doing anything it can to pervert God's perfection and justify it. the fact that homosexuals don't tolerate religious people shows their hypocrisy on the issue of tolerance. to get tolerance homosexuals have to tolerate religious information in the public square, anything else is intolerance by homosexuals.
So you lived back in the days of the neanderthals? You know for a fact that there weren't any homosexual neanderthals? Wow! You have to be the oldest person on earth! Congrats! Idiot! You'll believe in a mystical book that claims to be written in the name of an all powerful being that you have absolutely no proof exists, and yet, you know for a fact that there were no homosexual neanderthals! What a freakin' moron you are! Get bent with your stupid bible!
Amen to that. People who get so upset about the "appropriateness" for children are just making excuses because, guess what? Children don't have any preconceived notions about homosexuality. If you make no comment about the commercial, they probably wouldn't even notice. If they did, you just explain that there are lots of different kinds of families. These people who complain all act like they are going to have to explain in great detail all of the mechanics of homosexual sex. Kids, quite simply, don't give a damn until adults poison their minds.
If the ad was running in Italy, it probably would be fine. But, it was not!
Let's compare apples to apples.
In the UK, and also in the US, it is offensive.
Let the gays buy their mayo from someone other than Heinz, if they wish. I'm sure this is gonna kill the sales forecasts for Heinz. ;)
What a stupid response.
You didn't get it? The sales forecasts will not be greatly affected. You are the extreme minority, but you act like you are a majority. If we left you all on an island, with nobody allowed on or off that island, you would be extinct in exactly one generation...your own. Your sexual orientation is not natural. You don't even need a Bible to figure that one out.
Get it now????

And what about the gay community boycotting Heinz - first, they want more exposure - Now they are saying not this kind - what kind of exposure do you want?......having sex?
There isn't anything right with being gay! The Holy Bible specifically states that numerous times! The ad should have absolutely been pulled. It is disgusting! I feel bad for the children and their parents that allowed them to be part of such a commercial. The great United States, (which I proudly served in the Marine Corps) has allowed everything that we once stood for to casually erode because we are trying too hard not to "offend" anybody...it is very sad!
Funny, you, a Marine, who was at sea with hundreds of other men...on a men only boat...for months at a time...I'd think you'd be rather proud to see your gay cousins on television. Get bent, homophobic idiot. Shove your 'holy bible'.
Amazing! To live in a society where people PAY to watch two men beat each other bloody, but a simple sign of affection is out of the question. Sure says a lot about priorities.
TO BILL O'REILY....GO BLOW YOURSELF AND THEN SOME......I HAVE A ALLOT OF GAY GUY FRIENDS AND I WOULD RATHER HAVE THEM " AS FRIENDS" THEN SOME STRAIGHT NARROW MINDED MAN OR WOMAN ANY TIME...YOU GAY GUYS ARE ORE FUN,SEE THINGS SO MUCH DIFFERENT AND HAVE LOVING RELATIONSHIPS THAT MOST STRAIGHT PEOPLE COULD ONLY WISH FOR...GO GAY GUYS.......THIS IS FROM A CUTE STRAIGHT GAL....
Touche' Heinz. Too little too late though. You ought to be boycotted for being stupid enough to run the ad in the first place. Before I'm called a homophobe, understand, I'm not afraid of queers. Just because your tendencies have been scrambled doesn't mean I want to see that dimented behavior expressed.
You call us 'queers' and you say you're not a homophobe? Up your's homophobe! You idiot.
O'Reilly needs to grow a pair and come out, already. Clearly a case of "me thinks thou dos't protest too much."
Heinz was correct in pulling the ad. I do not care if you are gay, your choice. But its my choice, if I want to see it and I do not. I am sick and tired of the minority trying to tell the majority that because we do not agree there is something wrong with our thinking. BS - its a democracy. It is my choice if and when to explain to my children what "gay" is. Not yours. For me and I'm sure I'm not the only one, everytime I go to buy mayonnaise, if Heinz is available, I'm thinking of this commercial. If they had not of pulled the ad, I would probably never buy the product again. There are very few ways that I can express my views and my money is one of them. Finally, it is just too bad if you do not like it.
If you don't want to see it, change the channel, idiot. Get over yourself and grow up. It's the 21st Century...drop the bigotry. Your kid probably knows a heck of a lot more about sex than you do considering today's society.
No, it shouldn't have. Homosexuals are part of the population, always have been, and always will be. I suspect the biggest problem for many of those complaining is that it was two guys kissing. Had it shown two women kissing there probably would've been far fewer complaints. Afterall, in hypocritical fashion, lots of men get off on two women kissing yet they get in a dither if two women actually have a real relationship, not to mention that they've shown women kissing on all kinds of TV shows and not late hours. Rarely do they show men kissing.
If Britain can show topless women in ads, then it should show two men kissing. Either that or stop exploiting women to sell products.
From Britain came the Beatles and the minis. Also, Prince Charles that never fell in love with Princess Diana.
What gives Bill O'Reilly any right to be outraged over TV ads that run in other countries?
For this to elicit any response at all from me is worth noting. I NEVER comment on anything.
As one reader wrote, being homosexual has become more and more acceptable, not to mention almost as "unavoidable" as those heterosexuals around us. Are those offended actually suggesting that this is inappropriate for children? Seriously. It was in no way inappropriate, and I suspect had the 'mum' actually been a woman, they all would have smiled. Its REALITY. Who ARE these people who are trying so desperately to stagnate, or better yet, regress? I thought we had grown much more than this as a society. How very sad.
