Please, it's a scarf. it's not like she's covering her face and holding a machine gun - she's holding a cup of iced coffee. That's just ridiculous. talk about reading WAY too much into things.
That is how bad things happen, by slipping in "simple" ideas.
It's NOT a scarf. It's headgear used by Moslems. Otherwise, there would be no fringing around the border of it.
Who's afraid of the big bad FOX?
Too many people...and Donut makers.
Its a shame when gutless corporate heads (not leaders) cut and run at the mere mention of any boogie man. Rachael will be better off.
Sure, and a swastika is just a cross.
I completely agree. This is ridiculous how they can take a simple piece of fashion and attribute it to terrorism. I understand being wary, but this is way over the top. Have some common sense people.
It's NOT a scarf. It's headgear used by Moslems. Otherwise, there would be no fringing around the border of it.
So only Muslim headgear has fringe? If you look at the pattern, it's a paisley design, not the usual geometric designs of the keffiyeh. I have many, many scarves with fringe - and none of them even resemble a Muslim head covering. In fact, I have a keffiyeh my brother bought for me in Egypt in 1994, and it doesn't have fringe.
This is just someone looking for something to get upset about. Maybe we should ban all two-colored, patterned scarves just in case someone might mistake them for the sort of head covering that a terrorist may possibly wear.
By the way, Timothy McVeigh wore camouflage and white shirts, as have other American terrorists - so should we get up in arms about that combination?
QUOTE:
Michael-267231It's NOT a scarf. It's headgear used by Moslems. Otherwise, there would be no fringing around the border of it.
Um I have a jacket that has fringe on it does that make it a Terrorists jacket? OH MY GOD! My decorative pillows! I guess I need to throw them out.
Don't be rediculous....sometimes, a scarf is just a scarf.
oh yeah, and to the person who claims its not a scarf but headgear used by muslims, learn how to SPELL muslims before you go around announcing that you instinctively know what their headgear looks like. And if fringing around the bored of something makes it so, then cowboys have got some serious explaining to do
To Nance V...keep in mind that a cross is also a sign of Roman torture and execution. And FYI...the swastika is actually an ancient symbol for eternal life - Hitler hijacked the symbol for his own uses, just as the Jihadists have hijacked the Kafiyyeh for theirs. Get your history straight before you start slinging mud, k?
Please - you have got to be kidding me. Are we so P.C. that we need to examine EVERYTHING we do, say & now wear??? It is a scarf. A scarf.
And Brittany289776 - Moslem - Muslim. Tomatoe - Tomato. Moslem is not an incorrect spelling of Muslim. Some people in Moslem countries say Moslem - some say Muslim. I traveled extensively in the Middle East - I actually heard Moslem more than Muslim.
Malkin should change careers - way out of line. I should boycott Duncan donuts for pulling the ad because of simple minded people who see the world in black and white fringe.
Don't people realize we only give things more power when we observe them? If everyone in the world wrapped a pretty scarf around their shoulders for the next week, it wouldn't mean more than a fashion trend. Things only have the power we imbue them with. Don't give our scarves away to terrorists! If you want to wear a scarf, by all means wear a scarf!! Stop observing these ridiculous extremists' fashion codes- why are they now in charge of what people wear?
This is further proof that we lend entirely too much credence to the lunatic fringe in this country. I am not sure who this Malkin is but I am not the least bit surprised that they work for Fox. If we would just stop listening to idiots who come up with these whacked out theories the world would be an easier place to live in.
QUOTE: Nance Vonhoff-"Sure, and a swastika is just a cross."
Actually Nance, the swastika was used by many cultures throughout the past 3,000 years to represent life, sun, power, strength, and good luck. The dumb Nazis used it as a symbol of power and strength for their party. And in doing so, they destroyed the true representation of the symbol.
Also we should stop any ads with men with hair on their heads because a lot of terrorists appear to have hair on their heads.
Thank you! And I would argue further that if we could take back symbols, items, words, even *gasp* scarves that were used by small groups of extremists throughout time, we would be better off! Don't give them power over you!
The swastika is still used as a positive symbol in many parts of the world. It only has power to invoke negative connotations if you allow it to.
Watch out Paula and Emerald..Racheal is gonna blow up your souffles....
That is how bad things happen, by slipping in "simple" ideas.
I think you mean: That is how bad things happen, by sipping in "simple" ideas.
I can't believe this much crap has been made over an overzealous reporter whose attempt to make more of a article of clothing that was more than likely placed on her by the stylist who dressed Rachel Ray for this particular photo shoot. Next thing I'll hear is that because terrorists where sunglasses that everyone who wears sunglasses is linked to a terrorist organization.
I would also like to point out that not all muslem/muslim (take your choice of spelling, both are correct) people are terrorists. That's like saying all Christians are Catholic. Let us all sit back and use our heads before we react to such stupidity. I just wish Dunkin Donuts would have done that before reacting to something this stupid.
Let us not turn into sheeple.
If people weren't such idiots, they would know that her scarf is in-style right now. People read too much into things. I agree with the below comment; she is holding iced coffee for goodness sake!
Michael-267231
your a bigot.
you may not realise it but you are a bigot.
WHo cares if it is worn by muslims.
we arent fighting all of islam.
Now if you want to rephrase that.. I don't recall was terry nicoles wearign one of those?
or how about that guy who murdered the abortionist?
I don't recall what is the head gear worn by the "army of god" a christian terror group listed as such byt he US state department?
Nance Vonhoff
yes the swastica used to be just a cross.. but your example isnt a good one either.. see the swastica was used by the nazis but is not german.. a better example would be to be offended by a sausage commercial as germans eat them and some used to be nazis
What are we coming to. Funny that this would actually make national news. It's a scarf for crying out loud. Interesting how there is such a big deal about this, when recently on FOX news, there was a woman repling to Hillary's comments on RFK and she said someone should take them both out. Speaking about Hillary and Obama. You can find it on Youtube. So she gets away with saying something like that and Rachel Ray is selling coffee and can't wear a scarf. You know if someone had made the same comment about Mr. Bush, there would have been major issues. If there isn't change in this coming election, we are in trouble.
Have we lost all common sense in this country and has Michelle Malkin gone totally mad or are we returning to the fifties and the McCarthyism red scare but subsitute Muslim for Communism. Come on people pull your scardy cat head out and look around we are losing our civil rights for a bogus scare tactic!
I won't be going to a dunkin donuts due to this cave in.
Aside from the fact it's just a scarf, even if it wasn't, who cares. Being Arab or being Muslim does not mean you are a terrorist. People need to get past the racist crap.
Thanks Heather and others who AREN'T totally bat-doo-doo crazy.
To the others who ARE unfortunately bat**** :
Pro-terrorist?! Are you kidding me?!
I love eating falafel, I wear a pashmina sometimes (which my fiance bought for me in Tel Aviv, and yes it has fringe *GASP*), I have Muslim friends (who are just about some the nicest American PATRIOTIC people I know), and darn do I LOVE hummus dip.
Gee, I guess I'm pro-terror (obviously this statement is DRIPPING in sarcasm).
But seriously- I also have a cousin who served honorably in Iraq and both my grandfathers fought in WWII and Korea. I am very honored to have them as my family and am very proud of their service. I list George Washington and Thomas Jefferson as some of my heroes. Our country is wonderful and should be (used to be anyway) a beacon of civilization and justice to the world. So, obviously I love my country. I just also happen to appreciate and respect other cultures.
Unfortunately, our wonderful country has been hijacked by crazies and propaganda-spouting fiends looking to power. They care nothing about God or doing the right thing or even keeping us safe. They care about money and power for themselves. THAT'S IT! These fiends will use any means necessary, including fear, to get people to give up their rights and freedom so that they can amass power for themselves. It makes no sense to me how some people do not see this.
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin
And a special note to "Nance": Actually a Swastika is an ancient East Indian (Hindu) symbol which is used as protection and to promote good fortune. it has nothing to do with the symbol that the Nazis bastardized. That swastika is backwards and crooked (literally). Much like Satanists (or just angry Goth kids) like to take the Christian Cross and hang it upside down.
It is people like Nance and others that prove our educational system is a failure. That and, they seriously need to get some better hobbies. maybe one that doesn't involve OBSESSING and getting paranoid over some fashion accessory.
I too feel seriously disappointed in Dunkin' Donuts for listening to these idiots and their pointless, without-merit "argument".
I have to go now. I think I'm going to go throw on my pashmina and enjoy some falafel while listening to "Rock the Casbah."
We've gone too far. Scarves, clothing, etc. have been identifiers of groups for millennias. Rachel Ray is a US citizen and proud to be an American. Dunkin Donuts is callow to take this move because of Malkin's comments. Malkin - you're an idiot........from a life long (50 years) conservative Republican.
BTW, Nance:
A Nazi "swastika":
A REAL Swastika:
Educate yourself on matters before you enter a discussion...otherwise you look really ignorant.
Also, evoking Nazi imagery out of nowhere just to make your point (and an uneducated, baseless "point" at that) makes you lose all credibility...Just thought I'd add that.
To put in more simple terms that you might understand:
Comparing Rachel Ray's scarf choice to something like Nazism is insulting. How dare you?! Do you NOT see how moronic and, frankly, disgusting it is for you to trivialize something like Nazism and the holocaust by comparing it to a scarf that happens to have NO meaning whatsoever?!
Maybe you don't. And for that I feel sorry for you.
Fox news needs there plug pulled! How ridiculous.... They (foxNews) are the worst thing on TV. Well I put them next to wrestling because there both fake.
I had earlier tried to post links to images of the Nazi swastika and the REAL Swastika so one could compare the two. Unfortunately, they disable links here... and don't allow me to edit comments.
SOOOO....look up the Nazi swastika and the East Indian Hindu Swastika and one can EASILY see they are not the same.
Thank You.
Heather,
I can't agree with you more, this is insane, it's a scarf. The whole world must be laughing at us for making such a big deal out of this. Sometimes I wear clothes from other countries, does that mean I support their politics, I think not. Get a grip people, IT'S A SCARF, nothing else.
This has got to be the most rediculous thing I have ever seen, Its gone on way to long and way to far, the terrorists have won we have lost all our rights and freedoms, from right to privacy to the abilty to be able to travel with in our own countries with out being searched frisked and humiliated, now what? you can't even wear a friggin scarf. in a true land of the free ppl can wear, say, and really do what they want as long as it is not hurting anyone else, what happened 7 years ago was horrible, but as long as this crap goes on, THEY HAVE WON.
Before posting this, I wandered over to the Dunkin' Donuts site and clicked the Contact Us button, filled out their form, and informed them that I will be boycotting their stores until they begin running the ad again. I suggest that others do likewise.
I just wrote to Dunkin Donuts and told them my disappointment in them for pulling the commercial. Instead of complaining here on this board we should be contacting Dunkin Donuts and letting them know how we feel and suggest that they get a backbone and show the commercial as it was done.
Stand up against those that have nothing better to do than criticize.
Sara, that is awesome! A counterrevolution in favor of "offensive" content!
Er ... the Swastika is actually an ancient symbol of the Aryans. The Aryans invaded and settled in India and brought their symbols and symbolism with them.
Hinduism is present day evolution of the original Aryan religion.
Buddhism also uses the Swastika as a symbol - fact not myth.
The Nazism swastika faces clockwise. The Hindu and Buddhist Swastika faces counter-clockwise.
That murderous idiot Hitler conjured some rubbish that the Germans were all Aryans - so he decided to use Aryan symbols.
By the way, the Persians/Iranians are Aryans as well - enough said.
To complete the picture, the Nazis also used many of the symbols of ancient Rome, especially the Eagle.
Watch out Paula and Emerald..Racheal is gonna blow up your souffles....
Haha! You know - now that I think of it, Rachael Ray does use an awful lot of "exotic" ingredients, and she sure does enjoy being in front of a camera.
Obviously, since she uses a film camera, travels the world, and wears duo-tone scarves, she must be a terrorist. Or at least a terrorist sympathizer.
Ridiculous.
Islamiphobia and then some. What a hateful attitude to have towards an innocent scarf. If only that was as far as it ever went. What can these news commentators and donut makers be thinking?????
Dunkin donuts should be milking this publicity for all it's worth. I don't know. I bet they could come up with something...rather than just pull the add, why not fight back? Parody Fox?
Definitely drama queens...leave the Rach alone...this is ridiculous...
Exactly! So what if it looks Muslim? Why not do away with everything in our culture that has Muslim influences (coffee, certain pharmaceuticals, architecture, foods, certain perfumes, words, ad infinitum), just in case terrorists might also use these things? How sad that Dunkin' Donuts took this course of action.
What can these news commentators and donut makers be thinking?????
I think the key is that they're not.
I have written to Dunkin Donuts about how absurd it was for them to pull the ad. It shows me they have no backbone to stand up towards those that want to inject fear unto us and insult our intelligence.
I suggest instead of complaining on this board you write to Dunkin Donuts your thoughts and suggest they run the ad as filmed.
Poor Drunkin Dognuts....This is too silly.
Forest
This is so absolutely ridiculous...I cant even fathom that someone would actually pull this add because of a SCARF. By god it is a FAShION trend...well FOX news has just lost ALL credibility for me...they were on the edge before ....really, puulleease. FOX news and the people who run Dunkin donuts are extremely scary...its not the terrorists we need to worry about but fanatic minds like these!!
eh-
once again malkin proves only that she herself is nothing more than an idiot..
nothing new to see here folks.. move along..
People people enough already.....lighten up. It's only a scarf.
FB - "Drunkin Dognuts" BWHHAHAHAH!
Made me smile this morning, thanks!
I think it was an excellent choice by the stylist as most of the Dunkin's where I live are operated by people who have immigrated from that general region. I'm a Starbucks fan myself, but there is no way in this world that I would have made any connection between that article of clothing and any specific group of people.
I mean seriously, how do terrorists dress? The supposed terrorists of 9/11 were all dressed in oxfords and dockers. So anytime I see some schnook wearing that hideous ensemble I should assume they are going to hijack me and I should call Homeland Security?
What are they thinking, i mean really! Now EVERYONES going to be a terrorist. It's the salem witch trials all over again. Or the whole "YOURE a COMMUNIST!" It's complete bull, and i think ppl should worry about better things than that.
You have got to be kidding me, I truly wish God would hurry up and end the world now to stop all this stupidty. I would truly be ashamed of myself if I could find nothing else to whine about than a scarf. It is truly sad that anyone no matter what religion or race can only compalin about being offended. I am offended everyday by rampant stupidity in this world but I dont stand up and whine to everyone about it, nor do i expect anyone to make a big deal over it. Maybe we should go back to being an ignorant species living in caves and throwing rocks, oh wait that might offend the cavemen. I say tuff @!$%# get a backbone and get over yourself.
This brought to you by the same type of people that see the image of the Virgin Mary in a piece of toast!
Remember, the only thing we have to fear.....
Come on people it's just a scarf. This is ridiculous.
Its not even a particularly attractive scarf.
AGREED
I also agree.
Does the phrase "Get a Life" apply here??
I agree with buddy!!!!!!!!!! People have nothing better to do than start some S...
Do these people have nothing better to do? Rachel Ray a terrorist? I know some people can't deal with her perkyness - but a terrorist? Their hatemongering is more harmful than a scarf worn by a cook!
So it's agreed?
Terrorist? No.
Overly-Perky Public Menace? Yes.
Maybe she was brainwashed while on one of her Tasty Travels? :)
you have got to be kidding.
what next, i have a .45 colt so that makes me billy the kid
Watch out Billy, I will use my terrorist scarf to declare Jihad on you!!!
hehehehe
A tad far-fetched and very over the top... life happens and so does fashion. We are seeing too many monsters under the bed. Sad.
lol...We just get more and more ridiculous
Malkin needs to get a life. Its a freaking scarf, and nothing else.
A tad far-fetched and very over the top... life happens and so does fashion. We are seeing too many monsters under the bed. Sad.
and apparently Michelle Malkin needs more to do in her life and job..she's got wayy too much time on her hands..*S*
Way too paranoid, maybe she's on crack?
I would have never caught the tie to terrorism via this scarf. However, I would have called the fashion police because someone who is nearly absent of a neck, should never wear scarves. It makes her look like the elf from Lord of the Rings.
If it comes from FOX, network, it's got to be real!!! Only god knows how far right these people are. If I say I think FOX and Michelle Malkin are a link to extreme right, which can lead to terror will they be pulled off the air?
And SHAME on Dunkin Donuts!!!! For buying in to the extreme right!
How Far RIGHT?????????... this is typical Left side thinking...
LEFT??? FOX???? What the heck are you talking about? Have you actually ever watched any FOX programming? You can't go any further right without falling off this flat earth of ours!
I don't get the whole left, right link. As a more or less centrist, there seems to be an abundance of stupidity floating around from both camps. By the By, Dunkin Door Nuts, why don't you send a few million door nuts around the world and feed some starving folks. You are obviously failing in the espionage biz.
Malkin is a nut job. She's "Ann Coulter Lite" -- not completely looney toons yet, but well on her way. The fact that Dunkin Donuts was scared enough to lend credence to her ravings casts doubt on their judgment as well. And Malkin's feeble attempts to link "terrorist scarves" to liberal celebrities that she obviously despises for their views is just deplorable. It's the worst kind of mush-headed hate-mongering masquerading as journalism. Sort of like Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity in a skirt.
Must-get-image-out-of-mind! Bill O'Reilly Sean Hannity in a skirt AAAGGH! It's a scarf fringe or no. Malkins needs to keep on meds or get meds for her paranoid schizophrenia.
Richard, I think you have the right take on this. I can't imagine how much money was lost on this ad now that it has been pulled. And what is next? We need a terrorist fashion guide to keep us all safe. Then we need to know what words not to say, hand gestures never to make, body language never to use, and who knows what else to go along with it so that we are all way beyond politically correctness. What's next? Do you suppose the coffee itself is a symbol of Mideast violence in some way? What about the donut? What about the background of Rachael Ray? What if she is a Communist and a Terrorist all at the same time? Too bad McCarthy is dead and J.Edgar Hoover too ...
what's really sad is the sorry state of journalism... it's dumb people like all the mentioned above that give a bad name to people who actually trade in facts and junk.
Maybe if we just did all our ads in the nude... then there should be no implication of terrorism. Though, that just opens up all these other new doors that we Americans like to keep shut. Like our minds. *Puh*
Richard, I couldn't agree with you more.
Michelle Malkin used to write for a Seattle paper. Typical of her articles was when the ValuJet crashed in Florida because something in the cargohold burst into flames, Malkin said that the FAA was refusing to consider pilot error as a cause because the pilot was a woman ... and in Malkin's world, feminists and other liberals are the cause of all evil.
I don't know whether Malkin is clinically insane; I think she is merely an old-fashioned geek ... the sort of person who bites the heads of chickens for the amusement of the crowd.
She was laughed out of Seattle; her last column was a whiney screed complaining that no-one appreciated her. I'm not surprised she doesn't link to her early writings; they're unintentionally hilarious.
Ridiculous. Come on people, there are real dangers out there ... this is a scarf.
Well- now that we have finally realized how dangerous a scarf can be - I want to report a bunch of men and women at the local barn dance had scarfs on their necks. and...they were eating donuts. Must be red neck terrorists - to arms loyal Americans.
Well now I always associate terrorism with iced coffee and a woman who cooks on television doing a commercial by a company that MAKES DONUTS. By golly I'm going home and burn all my scarves that are black and white! Perhaps this comentator needs to take a nice long vacation. And whatever you do keep her away from fashion shows!! There are bound to be some black and white scarves lurking around the necks of models. This whole country is just becoming one big paranoid door mat. I refuse to live my life in fear of black and white scarves. Now bring me my iced coffee drink and a donut!
BRAVISIMO!!!! I absolutely love your comment. It is PERFECT!
Amen Sister! Absolutely Perfect.
Now bring me my iced coffee drink and a donut!
Sorry ma'm, can't do that. Iced coffee and donuts have been banned from this establishment, because people now associate these things with the Rachael Ray terrorist advertisement.
Don't you really mean the "Rachael Ray Terrorist Organization"?
Michele,
I couldn't have said it better myself.
In this age of terrorism, racism and litigation-ism, I'm sure the legal team at Dunkin Donuts felt that it was best to remove the ad. It's sad that we are expected to give up our 1st amendment rights because we might offend someone. This is still America, isn't it???
Leave it to Fox news....this is the most ridiculous, unimportant, paranoid piece of journalism. Not to mention racist profiling.
ajk, It may or may not be racist, but it most definitely is not journalism.
Saintly, it DEFINATELY is racist. Unfortunately it is also labeled as journalism.
Have we become this ignorant that a scarf is going to dictate a seven figure ad campaign. Dunkin deserves to loose money on this for being so stupid.
I think we should all go out and buy black and white scarves and wear them.
This has got to be up there in the stupidest thing in the world issues.
HEY! Michelle Malkin!!! There are people without adequate water and food in the world and you're worried about a Rachel Ray Dunkin Donuts ad! Pull your head out and re-evaluate your priorities!
Yes! Wear your Rachel Ray Scarf!! Everyone! We must not let a journalist seeking fame or a terrorist seeking glory take away our fashion freedom!!
So, does that idiot Malkin think John McCain's daughter is also a terrorist? She's been photographed wearing one of those.
Man, the right wing nutburgers have been teetering on the edge of total and complete lunacy for awhile now. It looks like they've finally fallen off the cliff.
And way to cave to a total tool like Malkin and her 10s of 20s of loyal listeners Dunkin. You wusses.
LOL....LOL.....LOL.....LOL...lol....lol...lol...........ha
Maybe we can do the opposite by more people wearing a scarf like that. It would appear so common, it would water down the terrorists signature message. On the other hand, if the terrorists held name brand coffee drinks, would our coffee industry collapse?
Good One! But I am not going to stop eating doughnuts (or soft serve vanilla ice cream but that's another story). Wow! What the heck is going on with these people like Malkin? Really all she does is give these creeps (terrorrists not doughnut makers) more press and undeserving attention.
If they keep this nonsense up they will help get Obama elected. They are making a moderate like McCain look bad because he has to be associated with them and the huge part of the republican party they "control" along with Dobson, Hagey and the other evangelicals and right wing nutjobs. What a mess. They are straining the already tattered credibility of the conservative movement just by association and really giving the socialists a lot of ammo. Please shut up you ignorant fools! It's a scarf for crying out loud.
It's amazing that Michelle Malkin doesn't see the irony in her own bigotry
You know that the name Malkin in native Muslim tong means hater of free enterprise.
Martin, "tong" is actually spelt "tongue". You would sound less ridiculous if you use the proper spelling.
Many thanks
Tong
Isn't "spelt" a grain? So...............................
you know.
"native Muslim tong (sic)" - its a religion not a race! There is no such thing as "native Muslim" - there are Christian Arabs and Muslim Caucasians!
biggerthebetter - love the "spelt" bit.
"spelled" and "spelt" are both past participles of "sleep" and both are spelt/spelled correctly. Another similar example would be "dreamt" and "dreamed".
Anyhow, as for this whole issue with the non-issue scarf, poor Rachael Ray, and shame on Dunkin' Donuts for not overriding and ignoring Michelle Maglalang's obtuse comment.
For those who are not familiar with Mrs. Malkin, as a whole she is just a delusional, right-winged Philippina who is a self-loather and who displays all the proper markers to be identified and to be accepted by the people whom she consciously considers to be"superior", and as being the quintessence of "American" ideals; and in this case, it is the conservative whites.
She's a disgrace to us Americans and if I were her husband, I'd ask for my name back.
Michelle Malkin needs to get a life. What fashions is she going to ban next? Good Grief!
OMG! Abdullah Rachel! OMG! A horrible terrorist person!!! Geez Louise people! Get a life! They really need to be checking out all the crap that is going on with this war that should never have been started and getting those people out of there instead of picking on a scarf that the delightful Rachel Ray is wearing and a stylist picked out! NOW I've heard it all. And I AGREE totally with the post above - SHAME ON YOU DUNKIN DONUTS FOR BUYING INTO THE EXTREME RIGHT AND THEIR FANATICISM!!! Come on! Now I'M not buying Dunkin Donuts!!!!!!
Dunkin' Donuts made a bad choice by using a kafiyeh in its ad. I'm sorry, but if the company wanted to use a scarf, THEN USE A SCARF!
It's a black and white scarf with fringe. If it was a proper kafiyea, it would be worn as such. I've had one for YEARS, even before I knew who Arafat was. My mother used to yell at me for wearing a table cloth.
Maybe that's how you should think of it - a table cloth not a terrorist message. It's a coffee commercial for crying out loud. Do you really consider Dunkin Donuts a terrorist organization?
And do you realize you're giving them MORE publicity by complaining about it?
Its a scarf, you'd have to be an idiot to think otherwise.
Where I come from (America), what she's wearing is a scarf. I really don't care what some other culture views it as or how they use it... We're in America; they're advertising iced coffee; it's a scarf.
it isn't a kifiyeh, it's a freaking scarf! we are becoming a nation of paranoid, terrified morons!
The scarf is a scarf, not a Muslim terrorist tool.
It is a scarf - Malkin said it looks like a kifeyeh - just like I look like Ann Hathaway. (I'm not her by the way, but out of fear of falsly representing her maybe I should have plastic surgery.) I've seen Rachael Ray wear this type of scarf on her show several times. It is a very European thing to do, it glams up an outfit. Having been to Europe I can safely add that many Europeans wear not only scarves, but scarves with fringe on them. This was a harmless fashion act that Malkin obviously used to rile up the right. What exactly is she really trying to imply? That there is a Dunkin' Donuts conspiracy to back terrorists? Yeah, I'd say we have another McCarthy on our hands. You remember him don't you?
you much not get out much - this is a scarf no matter who wears it -- scarves come with or without fringe, long, square, patterned, plain, fuzzy or silky. This "moslims (sic) wear it" idea is incredible -- PEOPLE wear scarves, and some dogs do too...
Get a grip! Do you know how long people in this country have been wearing those kinds of scarves. It's so common. Where have you been? If Malkin hadn't made that absolutely crazy and stupid comment, no one would care. Dunkin' Donuts should stick to selling donuts, etc. and leave the terrorist to someone else! Sad day in this country -- a cup of coffee!!!
Wow..Okay are you people crying that Terrorism is going to start with a scarf for real? And, yes, by the way, its a scarf. And even if it was a kifeyeh since when is it okay to be this way? To act like this. Bet ya'all get mad at the anti-american sentiment over there like how can they hate us? But look at how ignorant and foolish we as a society acts? Seriously, and honestly, sometimes I'm so ashamed at sharing my America with the likes of you.
OMG NO! ITS A SCARF! TERRORISM IS COMING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD! HIDE THE SCARFS!! BURN THEM! BAN THEM!
Grow up.
As has been pointed out, it's a scarf -- but what if it was a kafiyeh? Since when does an article of clothing or a fashion accessory have any thing to do with terrorism? I don't care if Rachel was dressed in full muslim regalia - doesn't make her or Dunkin terrorists.
It's a cool scarf, I want one, and I am NOT a terrorist!
It's a scarf for cryin' out loud!
